Google Doodle: Transgender activist Marsha P Johnson honoured

Google Doodle honoured transgender activist Marsha P Johnson. Marsha is widely credited as one of the pioneers of the LGBTQ+ rights movement in the US. Marsha was posthumously honored as a grand marshal of the New York City Pride March, on this day in 2019. Marsha was born Malcolm Michaels Jr. on August 24th, 1945, in New Jersey. After graduating high school in 1963, she moved to New York City’s Greenwich Village. Greenwich Village, a cultural hub for LGBTQ+ people. Throughout the month of June, Google has taken numerous opportunities to celebrate Pride Month.
