Brew Day – How To Make a Beer by Harvesting Yeast From an Old Batch – Wild Farmhouse Ale

We harvested yeast from the bottom of a fermenter, washed it, then made a yeast starter. We used that starter to brew a beer using only 2 row grain and a few ounces of citra hops. We used a brew in a bag (BIAB) system to mash and boil. This is a somewhat unconventional video on making beer, but you can do this with yeast from your fermenters too! We’d love to hear what you come up with in the comments below.

How to Make Guinness-Infused Mac and Cheese [Advertiser content from Guinness]

For Kathleen O’Brien Price, food is a way of sharing her unique heritage with others. Kathleen is half Irish and half African American, and her cooking style is a culinary mashup of the two cultures. Kathleen partnered with Vox Creative and Guinness to create a mac and cheese dish inspired by the flavors of Guinness Draught, proving without question that Guinness truly is a food lover’s beer.

O’Brien Price’s recipe for mac and cheese pairs perfectly with the flavors of Guinness Draught. The roasted barley flavors of the beer pull out similar notes in the smoked Gouda and bacon, while the creamy nature of Draught complements the rich texture of the dish.

Check out the video to see how O’Brien Price created this one-of-a-kind version of mac and cheese, and get inspired to make the recipe for yourself this holiday season.

Russians and Alcohol: When Beer Replaced Vodka | The Moscow Times

Russians are drinking 43% less alcohol than they were in 2003, according to newly released World Health Organization data.

This isn’t the only way Russian alcohol culture has changed. These days, vodka is no longer the drink of choice for Russians and craft beer is rising in popularity — especially among young people.

Meet Oleg Pivovar, who was seemingly destined to brew craft beer based on his last name (‘Pivovar’ means ‘brewer’ in Russian). He started his business four years ago as a hobby and now brews up to eight tons of beer every month.

The Moscow Times is Russia’s leading independent English-language media outlet. From our Moscow newsroom, we provide readers across the world with breaking news, engaging stories and balanced journalism about the largest country on Earth.

How To Fix Beer That Isn’t Fermenting (Tips & Tricks For Beginners To Solve Non-fermenting Beer)

How do you fix fermentation when it isn’t taking place?

The most important stage in any beer brewing process is the fermentation. Without this key stage, your beer is nothing but a malty, hoppy, sugary soup. So, what are the signs of a non-fermenting ‘beer’ and how can you fix them?

Check out my full article at

In this video, I go into a little more detail about how to spot when your beer isn’t actually fermenting and what to do to overcome this obstacle. There is only one sure way to know if your beer isn’t fermenting and there are a few causes behind it. It’s important to first identify the problem and then approach it with the correct solution.

Some basic beginner mistakes can lead to a lack of fermentation, and I go into these first. I also explain what ‘Stuck Fermentation’ means and how to kick start the process again.

Who am I?

I’m Phil and I’m the founder of beercreation.com. This is my website dedicated to making and appreciating beer.

The Concept

BeerCreation.com is an attempt to share a passion of mine, a passion for excellent beer.

One morning I was still dozing when my fiancée (now the missus) said out of the blue “beer”. I was thinking maybe it’s a bit early for one but sure why not? She was carrying on a conversation we had had the night before when I said I was interested in starting a new website. Her point was that I should write about what I enjoy. So making stuff and beer fall very much into this category.
My Experience

I’m no expert, at least on brewing beer, but I do enjoy a good pint of beer, especially on a hot day or after a hard day at work. I’ve also been lucky enough to live in some of the best beer producing regions in the world. I was brought up in Kent, UK and learned to appreciate ales in my early twenties. I also spent three years in Belgium drinking some of the strongest and tastiest beers in the world. A great experience!

I’ve always wondered what it would take to make my own beer. I remember as a kid some friends of mine in the local Scout troop made a batch of homebrew. They ended up adding fizzy water to an ale mix because all we knew about was lager at the time. Not such a success.

Beercreation.com’s Mission

So, this website will be dedicated to sharing a better way of enjoying the drink of the masses, beer! If you are curious about starting your own brewery in the comfort of your home or you just want to do some research, check out our latest posts.

I will be sharing my experience as I gain it as well as writing some helpful articles about making and drinking beer. This is a hobby of mine but I will also try to support the upkeep of the site through certain methods. Please support us by not using an ad-blocking service on the site. Also, be aware that many of the links on my site are affiliate links. Buying through these links cost you nothing extra but it will enable us to keep the site up and running. Thank you for your support.
